Phoneline Network: Both computers can see themselves in the network, but not each other

I had the network adapter in one of my computers disable for awhile because I didn't need to use it and it was slowing down certain things(like IE or other internet related things would pause for like half a minute sometimes when opening). Well I needed to transfer some files, and I re-enabled the adapter, but the two computers can't see each other for some reason. They can see themselves and it worked before, so I don't know whats the problem. Any ideas? Thanks

oh yeah, they're both running Win98 SE

edit: What's even stranger is sometimes it doesn't show the own computer in the network neighborhood and says cannot connect to network, but a few seconds later it will show itself in network neighborhood. Well I added the NetBEUI protocol cause I read that in anotehr thread with a similar problem. It didn't seem to work after a couple reboots on both machines. But now, for some reason, I can see both computers again(couldn't when I tried a couple minutes ago). I'm afraid this might be a temporary thing, so any advice?

update: It was able to see the c drive of the other computer, and now it isn't able to see anything. WTF is up?

Try searching for the computer. If u still using tcp/ip, search using the ip of the other computer, once you get it, map a network drive to any shared folder then you're gonna be able to access it anytime. Don't ask me why, Microsoft is weird ;) this tip worked for a lot of people.

To access the other computer without going through network neighborhood, go to run from start menu and type in "\\computername". Sometimes it takes awhile for Windows to recongize the network, especially with phoneline networks. If you have a firewall, that might be the problem.
