My daughter recently lost har Captivate Glide (ordered from Hong Kong to Slovenia for 120EUR two years ago), so we embarked on finding her a decent alternative (HW kbd not desired this time). This however soon turned into a frustration fest as a better phone in a similar budget is nigh impossible to find.

I looked all over the place and phones for ~150EUR budget usually feature a ~1.2GHz A7 with some pretty crappy GPU and an even crappier camera. Turns out, her two year old i927 easily matches (no, surpasses) todays offerings in the same price range. I'm talking carrier-subsidised devices here :(

I can get LG G2 or Xperia Z for this budget on ebay from china. They are quite recent flagships and are definitely OK, but still: am I really stuck with eBay if I want a half-decent phone for this budget? I was lucky with i927, but what if something breaks with the new one?

So, is there a really popular phone in this price range (150 - 200 EUR) that I'm missing and can be obtained from within the EU?

The entry-model Asus Zenphone 2 is 179 EUR, with good performance.

For older phones, the 2014 Moto X and LG G2 are good options that go on sale for low prices pretty often.

Edit: The 2nd gen Moto E LTE apparently isn't out in the EU yet, which surprised me. There are also various models from Chinese OEMs (Huawei and Alcatel), but I don't know much about them.
