Phone service over the internet?

I was looking at Lingo.com but am curious if it's worth it? Anyone using them or that type of service?

There are a lot of voip providers these days, check out http://www.myvoipprovider.com/ , it gives a good comparison of termination rates for different countries/places you want to call and reviews too I believe

They send you a box or something that you connect your broadband and phone into right? Does that box effect the internet anyway? Do they work with routers?

I use ViaTalk which so far has been nice. It comes out to like $8 a month because of a promotion I took advantage of a couple months ago. My connection doesn't seem slow when I'm using the phone. I'm very happy with it and to not have to worry about long distance or how many minutes I'm using is very nice.
