Phone Scam

Anyone get a call from a correctional institution? Semms this has happenned to me twice in the past couple months. Once at 10:30 at night while in bed and hung up on it but tonight I got another of them calls! Accepted the collect call and the person on the other end said I had a friend or family member there and was brutally beatened and was sent to the prison hospital. Didn't give the persons name that was beaten but the info to reach them was *721-305-989-4464. Just out of curiosity I dialed the *721 and got a recorded confirmation of activation but did not call the following #s. Decided to try the 305.... and got a recording that no one was there but to leave a message or page them. Then called Sprint and they told me that if I had dsid the complete # would have gave that # permission to use my phone account for them to use at anytime and bring up my bill in the $ks! BEWARE of this scam!! I was instructed to (by sprint) to try *73 and check for a double tone. If I didn't get the double tone to try 73# and that fixed it. Anyone else fall for that?

I wouldn't be dumb enough to fall for hte scam because I would have not accepted a collect call in the first place. How stupid could this person be?

I usually find out about important family events from people in stir. That whole banging tin mugs against the bars thing is a better communications system than most people realize...
