Phone interviews

How common are these among large companies? I recently applied for a Claims Rep Trainee position within Progessive Insurance - pay is great, casual atmosphere, etc. Yesterday I get a call from a 913 number (Kansas) and I'm in Dallas. I called back earlier today and the line was busy a couple times, and when I finally got through it sounded like a little girl left the outgoing message on a machine.

Finally the guy calls back and sets up a phone interview for tomorrow. Is that strange at all or no?

Not strange. I've had quite a few phone interviews. Allows companies to weed out a bunch of people before formal in-person interviews.

phone interviews suck!!! the only positive is that you can do them while naked.
