Can someone tell me if I can purchase a cordless or corded telephone from the UK and use it in the US. I know its not possible to buy cell phones in different regions because of different networks...but does someone know if the phone outlet is the same in both countries.

Nope, the jacks in the UK are different than ones here. You can get a UK/US converter fairly cheaply though.

Another thing to remember is that if you buy a phone that needs an external power source you'll need a converter for that too.

Really it's more of a hassle than it's worth, but if you REALLY want that UK exclusive phone, it can be converted.

Really have anyone actually seen the phones available for the us they are so crappy looking and bulky. Cell phones have evolved over the years and now look very stylish and sleek. The only cordless phone that has the resemblances of cell phone qualities are from samsung but are available in the uk. Heres the link and i think everyone would agree with me on that. Samsung Beauty
Whats up with the cordless phones in the us, the majority uses age old nickel-cadium technology. I think its a conspiracy by the industry to lure us to go and buy cellular phones instead.

Yep, standards in Europe, and the rest of the world suck, nothing ever transfers between countries, and we are so stupid we can't even go to the metric system it is sad.
