*** Phoenix LAN Party *** Web Developers Needed!

Adul, DeathByAnts, and myself are planning the sequel to last month's Phoenix LAN party. Right now, we're still in the planning stages and could use a little help from anyone here in the valley.

Basically, we need a location. Badly. Finding a location that can hold 50 geeks and their computers, plus about five servers, a rather large sound system, and various networking gear, is harder than we imagined. Assuming a cover charge for attendance, we may have some type of budget to pay for the location.

We would *prefer* a location that is centrally located. Hell, anything between I-17/I-51, and Loop 101/I-10 would work just fine. We will most likely hold the even starting on Friday (probably around 2pm) and run until Saturday morning, or until everyone is passed out and the fire marshall says we have to kick them out. =)

Any help at all, or any leads to a location which may work for this party would be GREATLY appreciated. Time is a big constraint at this point. We can't really begin work on any of the other aspects of the event until we know we have a suitable location waiting for us.

Edit:

Right now we are in DESPERATE need of help with our website. Anyone who knows php, sql, perl, etc, who can spare some time to help us get this dinosaur running, the help would GREATLY be appreciated. We were supposed to have this site done just last Friday, so time is really of the essence.

There are no women here!! I DEMAND THEM!

(Adul doesn't count...because no one is really *sure*)

I think we may have a solution for the location. I won't know until Thursday when I go to check out the location first. Basically, ASU has a rather large building (ASU Downtown Center) near 5th Street and Monroe, right by the APS building. The price looks reasonable, and unlike most hotels, they don't have any restrictions forcing us to pay them obscene amounts for catering.

Right now, we are looking to hold the event on July 12th, from the hours of 8AM to either 8PM or 11PM. The only catch with this location, is that since we do have to pay for it, we NEED to get everyone preregistered if possible, and we are also going to need to hit the goal of 50 people. I would like to leave the event price at $20, but I think considering the location, the amount of food that will be there, and so on, that we may need to move it up to $25/person for the day. We're also working on gathering more sponsors for the event and hope to have some kickass prizes for giveaways and such.

Basically, PLEASE tell your friends to come, tell them to tell their friends, and tell those friends to tell their friends and so on. We need to get as many people prepaid as possible too, since there is a very strong change we will need to put a 50% deposit down on the location. This equates to only about 13 people who need to be preregistered for us to cover reservation costs. The next 13 people would cover the rest of the location costs, and everyone else after that is basically covering food and equipment.

Anyway, enough rambling for now, everyone get out there and find some people to bring with you!

Edit: We will have the new website and paypal integration set up by the end of this week so that is when we should be able to start accepting registrations for this event.

Another update:

We will be shooting for 30 people for this party. This drop from 50 is partly due to the costs associated with the party, as well as the fact that we can not take the chance of not meeting our quota. If we don't get enough people, then money starts coming out of our pockets en masse, which is a bad thing since we are just poor geeks like everyone else these days.

Anyway, I think we have settled on the ASU Downtown Center as our new location. The rates are decent, the location is centralized, and and have plenty of circuit breakers and cooling. Now all we are waiting for is the completion of the new website, which Adul is currently working on.
