Phoenix Electrical Transformer Fires

Seems a little suspicious that one week we get a major transformer on fire from a wildfire, but then just yesterday, the one at 35th Ave. and Yorkshire goes up in flames while everything else in the area is fine. Thinks we Phonecians have a pyro on our hands?

Transformers do that once in awhile. In old days they were filled with liquid PCB for cooling and it spewed the area when they blew.

The fact that it may have been overloaded due to the 109F temps we've been having and it was probably very hot for the same reason makes me think it might have have caught on fire by itself. A friend of mine was without power this morning. He lives just off of 35th ave.
