When I had a land line I kept getting a fax on it at least once a day. I'd pickup and hear the fax noises. I finally decided to hookup a fax machine so I can receive the fax, it was some construction distribution company in Toronto sending out spam! They had a fax number on the ad, so I just sent them a several thousand page black fax from an online fax service I found and in white it said "stop spamming people". The spam stopped.

I maintain several email accounts (personal, business, and ISP). A year ago I noticed that my ISP email address was suddenly getting inundated with all sorts of spam emails. Rather than fight through it, I opened a new email address with my ISP and closed out the old one. It was a bit of a pain to ensure that I changed the email address on sites where I had used it.

It's a cat and mouse game. Sometimes they find the right way around your providers filter until the provider makes an update

My company gets spam faxes. Seriously.

Accidentally putting a regular printer on a public IP address is. .. interesting too

Probably the most amusing incident was when we got some Crestron room displays for a proof of concept project. Nothing fancy - just a display you can mount outside a room and tie to a calendar so you can see if the room is booked, by whom etc

Well I guess Crestron ships those with SIP capable software enabled by default despite there being no speaker, microphone or ability to acknowledge a call. We hooked one up and got our first spam call from Africa in about 3 seconds

Today I received multiple texts in a row from a fake USPS package notification. It also included something about group chat that it automatically try to start when I opened the text. This isn't the first time getting fake USPS notifications. My sister has also received similar texts.
