So I get this funny message in my Gmail account the other day. Something saying that my credit card has been charged for a laptop. Immediately, I was suspicious since I would love to have a new laptop, but wasn't shopping for one. Message contents...

The laptopteam.net is actually a link to http://www.auhhorize.net. What does an inquisitive guy like myself do? WHOIS the domain!

WHOIS output...
I was referred to whois.yesnic.com; I'm looking it up there.

Looking at the email was evidence that its fake. No ecommerce site would post your password in an invoice.

I'd just ignore him, too many phishing emails to try to string each of them along

Benesight is a well-known, well respected company. My employer works closely with them.

I've just finished a 100+ page project on phishing and pharming scams, that one doesn't look all that good or complicated. If you want, send the email on to the antiphishing working group though - they would probably like it.

Pharming is more of a threat these days.... now thats scary!
