Phish versus The Grateful Dead

The Dead have a couple of dozen excellent songs, from "Uncle John's Band" and "Ripple," to the Terrapin Station suite, to twilight goodness like "Touch of Grey" and "Black Muddy River."

Phish has "Bouncing off the walls." A nice song I'll grant you, but nothing compared to "Brokedown Palace."

ummm...bouncing round the room??

pretty lame song IMO...phish had some good stuff circa 1994, the dead had some good stuff circa 72-74, and 77 if you could just pull out keith's wife singing...she really sucked.

I really lost alot of respect for phish over the last five years... really went from a decent band on the decline to a total joke.

you n00bs arguing over phish v dead? no contest... you can't compare the 2. I like the G dead for certain moods and styles of jamming, and Phish for others. I can't say one had more energy compared to the other. If you guys want to check out some good dead- look at archive.org specifically 1973 shows as well as 1977, and if you're looking to get your mind blown, check out some '69 shows!

I voted Phish to give the vote some parity...most voters have not listened to enough of either.

They were both great...lots of good stuff from both.
