Exactly. Philly is one of the most historic cities in the nation. Granted history doesn't really interest me, but its still here/

the philadelphians aren't at all like newyorkers in terms of stereotypes, so why would you think them uncivil?
all major cities are relatively unsafe. like Deeko said i know plenty of people who have never had a problem. the key is to be smart and use common sense. you wouldnt venture into the 'bad' areas anyway, b/c there's nothing there for you.

That's history, not culture. I never said it wasn't historic, just a cesspool of putrid filth. Why do I feel this way? Living in the Temple dorms should be all the explanation required.

OK, sorry for the threadcrap but I had to stick up for my hometown.

It occurred to me to transfer to Lehigh or something, but I decided that wasn't far enough and so I fled to Arizona.

we've got a whole section of the city dedicated to museums.
there are libraries all over the city.
symphonies and art? Ever been to broad st? The Kimmel Center is the most advanced performing arts center in the world, in respect to accoustics.

I was 18 and stupid. I should have listened to my parents and gone to Penn State.

I've walked from Drexel to Temple at night, no problem. Philly is *not* that dangerous fellas.

Really? Geez...I'm from philly and I stay away from Temple.

Philly isn't dangerous until u hit Kensington and West Philly (not the penn campus)

Meh, Temple ain't so bad. The girl I was staying with thought I was an idiot for walking N Broad at night, but its never been a problem. West Philly gets progressively worse past 40th st...my runs take me to about 50th...again, never had a problem. You don't mess with them, they don't mess with you.

And... Whats wrong with PSU Deeko? :/
I had accepted my acceptance to Pitt for about a month before I changed my mind and decided on Drexel. I was only a Panther for a month....but it was long enough to cause me to hate PSU :p Plus I live 10 minutes from PSU Berks Campus, and its a pile of steaming crap.

Bad rationale for disliking PSU IMHO :p I might end up picking PSU(Schreyer's) over U Penn actually.

Not when you don't wanna have 40k in loans(per year) from Penn BEFORE attending(hopefully) Med School. 40k * 4 * 2(if not more with med school) = say 350k ISH.. that's just tution, not counting EVERYTHING else and INTEREST. So say 600k all said and done. NO THANK YOU.

You aren't getting any scholarships or financial aid? Or scholarships? I wouldn't rule it out man, regardless of the quality of education, a degree from Penn looks a whole lot better than a degree from Penn State....and even if you don't go to Penn, if you can get in there, I'm sure there are plenty better places than Penn State that you can go, and get scholarships of some sort.

Well, I could go to PSU(Schreyer's I'm talking) for virtually nothing, or Penn.. and I think they gave me something like 15k? So it'd be what? 25k still to go? Still kinda steep for my tastes. I don't know what you've got so against PSU tho, I know docs personally that have graduated from far less and make a GREAT deal of money. Education is what you make of it provided you have at least some base. :)

Regardless, what's going on with the meet? Anything?

I just dont like it, hey I live 10 minutes from one of their crappier campuses :p You'll get an education there, just as good as you could get from another school....I just think that if you can get in Penn, you can do better than PSU. Regardless of quality of education, name DOES matter.

As to the meet....I'm good anytime. End of May seems to be the general consensus? Is this good for everyone? Any specific dates you would prefer? How about places?
