Is there any difference between the Seismic and the Accoustic besides being 4.1 & 5.1? If not, maybe the Seismic will go well with the klipsch. Anyone got opinions about these cards?

Ok, I have the Philips Acoustic Edge, and it replaced my SB Live 5.1. This card is really a great card and I have had a very good experience with it. It works well with the Klipsch Promedia's and really brings out some clarity in the PM's. The DSP in the AE is slightly different than the SE I believe, due to the 5.1 output. Also, this card uses QMSS to output true 4.1 or 5.1 from any stereo source. Here are some reviews of it:

Neoseeker Review

Gamer's Depot Review

Also, here is a good thread I started about the Philips AE..

As far as where to get it..you can get it here. You need to enter promo code 936P to get the $79 price.

Good luck.

Insane 3D - - I read your Philips thread (linked) but could not find anything on a basic question. Does the Philips card require 2 IRQs like the Live! does, or does Philips have an intelligent way to disable something that is not needed (like DOS Sound!)?

How I wish Creative would put a jumper on their Live! cards so that useless emulator could be easily disabled so a IRQ is not wasted.

The Philips just takes one IRQ...in Win2K anyway. I haven't booted into Win98 recently, but I believe it is the same. There is no "SB16 Emulation" or anything like it as far as I can tell with the AE. I hope this helps.

Thats funny, I have a SBLive and it only takes one IRQ-When you install the drivers do a custom install and uncheck the DOS drivers option.
