Hello Everybody,

I'm looking for a video card with the Phillips SAA7108E TV-Encoder chip (I was told that this TV-OUT encoder chip is better than the Conexant BT869KRF chip, or is it?). The only video cards I found using this chips were Geforce3 cards, namely the Gainward CARDExpert Geforce3 Card, Asus V8200 Deluxe, and the MSI StarForce 822. Problem is that GF3 are a bit too expensive for my likings. I was wondering if anybody knows any other models that use this encoding chip (or any better chip, for that matter), something like a Geforce3 Ti200, or a Geforce4 MX. The video card is going to be used in Audio/Video system, which is going to be used for video encoding/decoding, and such things. The video card should have good performance, with a reasonable price.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

What do you think about the Visiontek XTASY Everything 5564 for my situation? It will be installed in an audio/video system, no gaming.

I think you need to look to Matrox or ATI for A/V solutions. Perhaps something on the order of a G450/550, or the ATI 7500 for dual head support, very nice for editing. Or maybe one of the AIW series cards or the Matrox eTV for a do everything well solution. These cards feature great 2D quality (edge to Matrox) and mature multimedia feature sets (edge to ATI).
