Philips Seismic Edge (PSC705) digital out problem

Has anyone had success getting digital out working on the PSC705?

I'm having trouble getting it to work. I just pulled a SB Live 5.1 card that was working perfectly with digital out, using a 1/8"-stereo-to-coax converter, plugged into my Sony receiver. The OS is Windows XP, Driver version is 1.89. With the SBLive card, the receiver display said UNLOCKING, then 48khz, when I plugged in the cable. Now, it says nothing when I plug it in, but says UNLOCKING when I pull it out.
