PHILIPS Pronto Universal Learning Remote Control , this is one of the 1st generation, and there are newer models that have come out since, but has gotten excellent reviews, all seem to like it, but retail price is ~$300.

It has a PC based program that allows you to custom build your buttons, etc, sort of like building a web page. CSR told me full factory warranty applies (1 year?).

Downloadable here: RemoteCentral.com

The software has lots of user support, codes, etc available @ RemoteCentral & ProntoEdit.com

Did a search, hope it's not a repost

From what I've read this is one of the best remotes out there. Too bad it's not the Second generation Pronto or else I'd be all over it!

There isn't too much difference between the 1st and 2nd generation models. I have the first and love it. The main difference is memory, but I haven't had a problem with customized icon based buttons for 12 components. They did have a problem with bad screens at one point and these might be repaired models from that fiasco. There is a wealth of info on this unit at remotecentral.com. If you are interested, you should definitely check it out.
