Philips = Magnavox or has that changed?

I know that once upon a time the company was called Philips Magnavox but now I see their TV's posted with one name or the other. Are these two companies separate now?

Biggest reason I ask is because I've heard that Philips' quality is...shoddy at best, but don't know much about the Magnavox side, I assume if they are the same company it's probably no different.

if you ask me i prefer stuff from philips over magnavox. philips used to make great stuff (a lot of older CD's my brother has are philips and are made in japan), but not since recently. magnavox just reminds me of crappy TV and cheap cd players.

AFAIK they are still the same company & both are pretty crappy ... Magnavox is (or at least used to be) known in the industry as maggotbox.

Phillips is also Norelco as well. I found that out when I got my new razor for XMas.
