Philips amBX - how much does it add?

So, I'm pondering whether to spend $100 for this device that adds lights for ambient color around your monitor, fans, and a few games (mainly air combat game Hawx).

I like increasing gaming immersiveness, I like encouraging companies to try products that do that...

I watched the youtube videos, still on the fence.

Any comments on it? There's also one for $50 with just the lights and a game.

But I realize I dropped $100 on the nice leather steering wheel, and it's still nicely in the unopened box. Hm.

I happen to like it from the videos I have seen on youtube, this one's pretty cool:

Philips Ambilight AmBX (Crysis Demo)

Too bad where I live this is not available yet but I would probably think of getting it someday.

Edit: I overlooked that high price tag in your post, sorry don't think it's worth $100!

I don't know, I do believe they are at least half decent speakers particularly if you can't be bothered with 5.1 like me. I don't own it but I really don't see this doing anything useful but $100 isn't all that expensive. If you get them give us a mini review after you test use them.
One thing I didn't think of was you probably need them near or against a light colored wall, for my set up that is not possible.

Yeah, you'd get the same effect by turning the lights out in the room and just let your monitor be the ambient light.

I've gotta disagree. I have a Philips Ambilight HDTV and I absolutely love the ambient lighting. Would this transfer well over to PC gaming? I'm not entirely sure, but I could definitely see where it would be cool. If this was a 5.1 set I'd get it in a second .. but 2.1? Nah. I'll stick with my current 5.1 setup.

seems like a good idea but needs to go through some more iteration..too simple and doesnt make a lot of sense most of the time..
