Philips Acoustic Edge - Hissing, Poping, Crackling

Hello - i've had this sound card for several months now and been very annoyed by the Hissing/Popping/Crackling happening in all parts of windows. Games, CD Audio, mp3's, doesn't matter. I've reinstalled windows (XP Pro) used the latest drivers, dloaded newest versions of Windows Media Player, WinAmp 2 (I dont like 3), ATI Multimedia Center (ATI Video card) and the same problem exists. I can't figure it out.

The only thing that I think MIGHT be it, is i'm using a very cheap set of speakers - like 30 dollar speakers.

Any ideas?

First I reformatted my hard drive and after a fresh install of Windows XP Pro if I installed the sound card
drivers and then clicked on the speaker test IMMEDIATELY CPU usage went to 100% and stayed at 100% forever. Not
good, I tried several things but it just would not install! I went back in
my mind when all my problems came about and remembered that I had enabled
USB 2.0 support on my motherboard about that same time. I went into bios
and disabled USB 2.0 support and left it at USB 1.1 . I then reinstalled XP
again. Bingo the sound card drivers work and no popping or
clicking in any sounds or music files!!!!! What it comes down to is a
inability of the Philips Acoustic Edge sound card drivers getting along with
USB 2.0 enabled on the motherboard. Motherboard is a Albatron PEV845 Pro with Intel 845PE chipset.
I look forward to new drivers that work with USB 2.0 enabled devices. UPdate all was well untill I installed the audio codecs updates for windows media player 9.0, I know have the clicks and pops back!!!!

As you can see I have problems with philips Acoustic Edge too, the latest drivers are allmost one year old! They have serious problems with USB 2.0 and the latest audio codecs for windows media player 9.0. I submitted a request for new drivers on January 23, 2003 no replies as of today!!! I am totaly discusted in philips support for their products. They truly do not CARE!!!!!!!

Try adjusting the PCI Latency timer in the BIOS, try enabling/disabling "PCI Delay Transaction" in the BIOS, and move the card to another PCI slot, preferably the furtherest away from other cards and in a PCI slot which isn't shared.

Cheers
