*Warning*, I could be wrong about max memory for this player (offically 384 mb, not 640mb). I'll post new info when I find it.

I bought this mp3 player (128mb + 128 mb SD card) from wal-mart for $140 last month. After installed driver, it can be used as external drive, 512 mb card is the max. Outpost deal seems very good, $100 for a 640 mb memory based player.

Philips SA-230 128MB Portable MP3 Player:

Plays MP3 and WMA digital audio
8 hours of digital voice memo recordings
Digital FM tuner with 10 presets (no, you can not record radio.)

Philips 128MB MP3 Player $50

Kingston 512 MB SD card, $80 - $30 rebate

How did you get it to work with 512? The product webpage says it only supports 128 SD card. Did you use new firmware?

I bought mine from Wal-mart, 256 mb version (128 base memory + 128 SD card), I have not tried another card yet.
A British web site says it can take 512 SD card. I'll post it when I find it again.
However, I just read the manual, it says nothing. Philips own web site says "expand memory size, up to 384 mb"
The latest firmware dated 07/29/03, maybe a hack firmware somewhere? I am confused now.

Either that, or 512SD memory wasnt out when the player was made, so they had no reason to say it was supported?

2 important questions:

1. Is this thing USB 2.0?

2. Can you add files via drag and drop, or is it through some proprietary interface? (sick of doing this on my Rio 500)

Thanks!
