I bought this monitor from officedepot.com after reading the deals post on this site. It works perfectly for the 1st few weeks but I noticed a few problems recently (still within a month old). Since there are probably some users of the same monitor, I hope to get some feedback from you.
I have a separate power switch for my monitor and speakers. I sometimes turn on my computer first and then turn on the switch for my monitor after the system is ready.
I found recently that if I turn it on after the PC finishes bootup, I would not be able to turn on the monitor quickly. I have to press on keyboard, move around with the mouse for many times, and eventually it would be on after 2-3 minutes. Before it eventually turns on, I can see it struggles to turn itself on a few times (being a little lighter than pure black and blinks off after less than a second or so).
If I turn it on right when I turn on the computer, everything would be fine. I would see the BIOS, system selections, Win2000 startup screen, everything like normal.
This problem happened just recently and I'm not sure what changes I made for it to happen, or it's just the monitor. For a test, I reconnected to my old monitor and did the same procedure and my old monitor turned itself on right away after I turned the switch on. Then, I swtich it to my Philips while the computer is on (I know it's a dangerous move.), and it turned itself on right away too. When the computer is running and I turn off the Philips monitor for a longer period of time. When I come back and turn the monitor on again, it takes very short time to be on again.
It has problem with 1152X864 when I switched between resolutions. I would become complete black. I have to either cancel it or sometimes heat return a couple of times to get it working. Other resolutions switch right away.
Another time, the screen goes complete black for a few seconds when I hit backspace.
I know I can do some testing to narrow down the possible problems, but it would be nice to get some suggestions, feedback on this issue before I spend the time for testing.
Please let me know what is causing this problem!! The test I have in mind is:
1) Boot to another OS (currently running Win 2000 Pro Srv pack2, will try Win98SE) on the same PC.
2) Try it with safe mode (if I can remember the keystrokes, F8 I believe).
3) Try it with another video card (I bought a Radeon 64MB VIVO before getting this monitor) on the same PC.
4) Connect the problem monitor to another PC and a Mac and boot with the same procedure to see if it happens the same way.
Thanks for the help,
