Since I hear his songs all of the time I got to thinking about this. I mean he has countless top hits, soundtracks for movies (Disney's Tarzan for one), has been in a few television appearances (Miami Vice way back when and others I am certain), a solo and a prosperous career with Genesis. Yet, he's not plastered on magazines and television screens all of the time like Madonna, Britney, Backstreet Boys, etc. The guy has real talent but he's not an attention whore and I like that.

 to you Phil. I hope you keeping making great music.

I have nothing against Taylor but I've never been able to really get into his music.

Underrated?

Are you smoking crack? Or just starting to pay attention to real music?

he's kewl. last decent thing i've heard from him was tarzan ost though. hope he doesn't become one of those old whiny artists that puts out new cr@p and complains about bias when he's just lost creativity.

umm how is he underated?
Isn't he KNIGHTED? has countless grammies and such?

Personally, even as a fan of 80s music, his stuff doesn't do it for me on any level.... but hes hardly underrated or appreciated by the mindless masses

You just answered your own question. If he's not appreciated by the bubble gum listening minions then he is underrated!! For yourself and any others that lack reading comprehension I stated he has a long list of accomplishments but you don't hear much of him from the media, nor from himself which in todays attention whoring music business is admirable.

The reason he's not plastered everywhere now is because no one under 40 cares about him anymore.

Hence why he is underrated.

If he was a pretty young blonde who couldn't sing if her life depended on it (sound familiar), he would be everywhere in the media.

He isn't underrated he's just past his prime.

He's a great drummer. No doubt about that. I'm not a huge fan of his music, but seeing old drum solos from back in the Genesis days is really something else. He's one of the best drummers around, hands down.

When he was in his prime, he was rated just about right, imo (and probably overrated -- he did a lot of bad to music as a producer and only some of his own work redeems that).

Although I have to admit that some of his stuff has become a guilty pleasure of mine (I Wish It Would Rain Down and In The Air Tonight, for example).

i don't think he's underrated. the piano man(billy joel) and elton john have far more endurance and hits then he has. just 2 examples from the 80s. they don't have to be plastered around. their status is beyond. they are accepted as top tier.

Not in the news is different from underrated.

The reason hes not in the news is because hes not 20, female, and slutty.

Also because he hasn't came out with new material in a while.
