Got the chip last night and installed it an hour ago on a Gigabyte 780G mobo. Put on a fresh coat of AS5 to go with the Big Typhoon cooler I have and changed the multi in the bios to 16.5 to get a 3.3Ghz clock speed. Mobo voltage are at default. Currently running Orthos blend test for 20 minutes and still going strong with a temp of 36 degrees. Incredible chip!.

C'mon, you can go higher then that. :) Even my 940 that puts out more heat can do 3.8ish GHz on air. I'm at 3.4 now because it does that nice and stable at stock voltage, so it's very cool and fast enough for me. Push that 720 harder. :)

So, can you enable the 4th core on it ?

I don't think the 780G mobos can do that; only on the 790GX/FX based motherboards. I could be wrong however.

Not really keen on possible activating a bad core on this cpu. Been checking many review sites and the extra voltage to get above 3.4Ghz seems too high for the meager gains they bring.

Basic aluminum heatsink. I plan on using it for my old 8650 cpu that the 720 replaced on a backup rig I'll be making. I definately would not OC with it but you can see how cool the chip must be if the HS is so simple.
