My initial testing shows phenomenal results, which by far, outperform the competition, but rather
than give you numbers now, it?s more prudent to wait for the final production version of the SLK-600.

Uhm, probably not. Why bother making a huge base when an Athlon core is the size of a dime, and a P4 is pretty tiny too? The only reason the base has to remain long is because it has to be to compress all the fins together.

But there's really no sense in caring until it comes into production. Heatsinks don't need to become like video cards and processors, where people are afraid to buy now in case something better comes out tomorrow.

I love my SK6 but the new one looks like a winner too...? Only thing I wish they (HS makers) would add would be a Silver insert... Awhile back I had read a couple of articles over at overclockers.com I think and they were messing with pure silver inserts with the old plain alum. HS`s and getting surprising results... Dont know what happened to the idea but would be nice for someone to give it a shot...?

that .02 thing... :)

The SLK's engine bay is far too small to fit the Mercedes 6.0 Liter V-12 into. I'm afraid that the most powerful SLK we'll be seeing (stock) is still the SLK32 AMG, which is no slouch, to be sure.

I am glad to see so much interest in developing high tech heatsinks!

Instead of putting a v12 in an SLK why not just give them a cyanide cap, much quicker, no mess, and no innocent victims ;)

V-12=engine. Cyanide=poison. I don't see the relation, unless you're confusing the V-12 with the V1 (WW2 German cruise missile) or V2 (WW2 German ballistic missile).

It's simple sarcasm meaning a V12 in an SLK will kill as fast as a cyanide capsule. (which is a simile)

Instead of using silver shims between the aluminum and cpu, the use of Arctic Silver is adequate for thermal conduction. Silver is an expensive metal so the cost of heatsinks with silver bases would be higher than most people want to spend.

If you really want cool temperatures, just use the HSF peltier combo and make sure everythings water tight. You could use a quieter fan with the peltier and achieve colder temps.
