Phenom II X4 975BE overclocked to 7.13GHz

Brasil is widely known for brilliant football players and gorgeous women, but now it’s appears that the Copacabana is also packed with great overclockers.
One of them has managed to push an AMD Phenom II X4 975BE to a whopping 7.13GHz, setting the new world record for AMD CPUs. The exact clock was 7134.31MHz and the processor was cooled with nitrogen.

Although we’ve seen higher clocks in the past, they were achieved on ancient Celerons and Pentium 4’s, which really can’t be compared to a contemporary quad-core.

Is this CPU still going to be released ? Haven't heard much about it lately.

Rumors I have read all more or less state Q1 2010.

I need to find myself and extension cord long enough to reach outer space and run my computer in orbit for a cool 20ghz, these LN2 threads are getting boring as hell!

Good luck with the input/display lag as the signal travels from your I/O on Earth all the way to space, and then signals come all the way back down to your monitor 😀

Space is weaksauce, try a Bose-Einstein condensate for maximum overclock.

I don't think that's going to work like you think it will...

Liquid helium is far more effective, folks. That stuff is around 4 kelvin.

Yeah it'd be a mess I'm sure, though if done right absolute zero would do just fine.
