Phenom II Build

hi guys,

im considering a new dragon platform build but the problem is i dont have any existing amd cpus and want to go with a phenom II 920. I wanted to ask you if there are any motherboards out there with out of the box support for phenom II since i wont be able to update the bios with an old amd cpu.

i was considering the M3A78-t but it seems that requires a bios update to recognize phenom II as well.

Help will be much appreciated, thanks.

I have this same question and I resorted to reading newegg reviews on the 940 to try to get answers. Supposedly, the Foxconn Destroyer 780a, Foxconn a79a-s, and ASUS M3A78-T do not require BIOS updates for the processor to work. However, without the updates, the processor is not properly identified in BIOS or in utilities such as CPU-Z.

I'm not very confident in this information but so far it's all I have. I'm tentatively thinking about taking the plunge.

ahaan yeah its hard to find useful info. someone told me that the m3a78-t does ship with compatible bios but i still have my doubts as reviews here and there of buyers suggest it doesnt. let me know if you find dependable info...thanks!
