Phenom II 940 Review

I don't trust them, but here it is.

It says it's written by "Fudzilla staff". I suppose that's marginally better than Fuad himself writing it.

In the 'review', it looks to be 50% faster than the Phenom they are comparing it to. They also claim that it overclocked to 4.2ghz. They tested it at 3.8ghz.

I think everyone can assume that the PII will be great competition for Yorkfield. But if the rumour is true about a pre-Xmas launch, I think it would be a good idea for AMD to let a reputable site like AT or Tom's get ahold of one of these chips.

The rumor just seems to be people confusing AMD shipping processors to OEM's and resellers as processors being available for purchase. I have seen nothing that makes me believe that they would launch the Phenom II before the January 8th date floating around. The shipping of processors in December just means that it will be a hard launch, and not a paper launch.

It's a uniquely identical rumor to that of the i7 launch supposedly being Nov 3rd...which turned out to be just the date when most resellers were to expected to take delivery of major shipments of inventory for the actual upcoming Nov 17 release date.
