Bought A Phenom ii 550 be at microcenter last week paired up with a asus M4A78T-E

Amd Phenom ii x2 Be Forgot to take down the batch code get it later
Mobo Asus M4A78T-E
Corsair ddr3 1333 2gig

Unlock to quad right out of the gate stable stock volts
Then started to overclock got it to 3.6ghz at 1.425 volts
I ran prime95 for 24 hours no errors I heard of people getting prime but then to fail in VM so i also tested in vm also passed with no problems.

I had to use asus probe to see temp and it does not hit over 57C Thats 100% load and it takes hours to get to that temp.

Congrats on the unlock! Once unlocked core temp and some other temp monitors are borked so using asus probe is the way to go. Are you using stock cooler?

I had it running at 3.6ghz on stock cooler really did a good job about the same temp.
Then went to microcenter yesterday and seen a Kingwin cooler for like 9 bucks on sale got it. Same temp but its very quiet.

ugh, I feel like a loser with my 710 that won't even do 3.2ghz stable without unlocking. Worse yet, I have returned to stock clocks for the time being now that my 4830 died and forced me to fall back onto not-so-oc-friendly 790gx IGP...

Its always a big if on unlocking and getting stable. Got lucky on my $92 cpu
I hit 17,221 on 3dmark06 not bad i only got 16,300 with my q9550 with same gpu.

nice, now the hard part is to get tighter timings on your memory with a high NB.
