Phenom + DDR2 1066 + SLI

after researching for an upgrade, i couldn't find a platform suitable for me... weird! here is why:

I want to keep most of my system and only change CPU, Motherboard and RAM. I only worship AMD so Intel would be a NO-NO, Irregardless how many INTEL vs AMD comparisons out there I still want an AMD part - their processors have soul in them. Long awaited Phenom 9850 came out just now so i definitely want that stone ("Unlocked multiplier" is very tempting).

Last year AMD bought ATI so that screwed me up a bit because I kinda used Nvidia products all the time. I still have two 8800GTS 640MB (got them first week they came out - still very happy with them) which I don't want to change because I bought them for so much i'd rather keep them. So SLI is a way forward for me.

In terms of RAM I want CORSAIR DOMINATOR 1066 DDR2 (I fell in love with Corsair after XMS PRO DDR modules with lights on top... m-m-m)

Now... after wasting couple of hours online I've realised that I can't find a AM2+ motherboard with DDR2 1066Mhz support, that could work in SLI.

What to do now - I don't know. In forums noone is certain when board like that comes out, and I really want to use that 1066Mhz DDR2 that Phenom have to offer, so my videocards let me down now...

I have 3 choices:
- Wait till suitable motherboard comes out (have no idea when)
- buy ATI cards - pwyuhh!
- only have DDR2 800 on current SLI motherboards.

> Please correct me if I?m wrong somewhere, or share suggestions if you wish...

I don't know AMD mobos that well, but even if it only supports up to DDR2 800, couldn't you just "overclock" it up to the stock 1066?

The 780a launches on 4/29 and is NVIDIA's new AMD chipset with SLI support. DDR2-1066 is fully supported although we are not seeing much benefit from it over low latency DDR2-800 right now.
