it's been a couple weeks since the 955 release, and i was wondering if there was any update on info for which boards have bios support for it now, specifically in the AM2+ category, but info on AM3 boards is of interest as well. I ran into a little issue in that my CPU (e5200) doesnt have VT and I need it for all of my college classes right now. I was looking at waiting a bit longer for getting a quad but since i need VT NOW and 45nm CPU support for my motherboard doesnt exsist, i was looking at a cpu/mobo replacment, and the 955 is the current CPU of choice. i already have DDR2, but i also have enough other parts to split everything off into 2 systems if i get another CPU and mobo, so spending $50-70 extra for a kit of DDR3 isnt out of the question for a 2 way lan setup for friends to use if it makes picking a motherboard easier. so, what's the latest on boards that support the PH2 955?

Fry's i work at caries the GA-MA790GP-UD4H, which would probably be my DDR2 board of choice since i can get employee discount on it, but if the UD4P DDR3 version has the bios update required as well, it might be a better route to go that way.

AT's 955 review lists the boards that had support before launch- from memory there were 4 including my DFI board. There may be more boards with beta BIOS available but if you need something now just stick with the boards mentioned in ATs review. I will be installing my 955 this weekend and will post up a mini review / overclocking when it's done with my DFI 790FXB-M2RSH.

yea i will have to check for support. i forgot that i might be able to get a Q9650 for what most people would pay for a 9550 with fry's employee discount tho, will check on that tomorrow. if that's the case i will probably go with the 9650 since LGA CPUs are easier to lap than PGA CPUs, and fry's has a pretty good stock of UD3Ps right now, plus i wouldnt have to wait for the exact kit of memory i want to arrive for DDR3 (frys doesnt have any at good prices) since that board uses DDR2 and i already have good DDR2 for OCing. will go check benchmarks agian when i sober up a bit after the cinco day mayo i just got back from and see what performs where, and then check prices tomorrow.
