Pharmacy ever messed up your prescription?

Got one of mine filled yesterday and they gave me 60 pills instead of 90. I thought prescriptions are checked over by multiple people (tech&pharmacist?) so that type of stuff doesn't happen. Apparently it does anyway. At least they didn't give me the wrong pills although I wouldn't have minded some oxy by mistake LOL

Has a pharmacy ever messed up your prescription?

No but they have been known to take a really long time even with no other customers and 6 people back there.

Also my doc messed up. He only prescribed me 30 pills but told me to come back in 45 days. Problem is I dont think I'm supposed to stop for 2 weeks. Gotta call tomorrow and see if he'll give me a small in-between prescription or if he wants me to see him early.

Ha, I had that happen too. The ER doc only gave me a 2 week prescription but my follow up with the neuro was over 2 weeks although only by a couple days.

I have had that happen a few times. sometimes they don't have enough pills so they give you some and will send you the rest latter.

i had it happen so now i count them. got 33 instead of 60, which i thought was a weird number. i heard a customer at the same place say she didn't get enough of one prescription while she was there so it happens.

they told me they use pill counting machines.

now i also look up the pill online to make sure it's the right one in case it looks different than the last. since i get generics sometimes it changes as they get different generic makes.

That wasn't the case this time--they just screwed up. They went back and recalculated their inventory and found I was missing them.

I have had what you said happen once too but they told me they were short and the package indicated the missing pills, so I don't consider that messing up the script.

Yes, Walgereens gave me something for seizures instead of arthritis medicine. To their credit, they both started with the letters 'Oxa'. :\

Luckily I noticed it right away.

Once I had a prescription filled for Clindamycin and the pharmacist accidentally gave me herpes.

I think my doctor once added an extra -0 onto a prescription. it was weird walking out of the pharmacy with a quart of codine.

Yeah counts are off even in some of the metered medications I have. It happens sometimes but rarely are they off by such a large percent.

I read a report about 8 years ago from the FDA that said something like 1 in 20 of prescriptions filled by pharmacies are incorrect in some capacity.

I was wondering how common it was for a pharmacy to screw up. I already called them and got it sorted out. I thought it was very unlikely for them to screw up but I have learned from my thread that is not the case.

Now let me ask you something, why post in my thread when you are useless?

Not the Pharmacy but my Doctor consistently fills out information on the script incorrectly and I end up being in a limbo between the Doctor's office and the Pharmacy while the Pharmacy verifies what the script is really for.

Wife had it happen with her painkillers. Never got it sorted out. You might as well paint "dope fiend" on your forehead when you go to a pharmacy and tell them that they shorted you on your prescription.

Same goes for losing or destroying your pills. Your house could be 10 feet underwater in a flood or destroyed in a tornado and basically you're shit out of luck. Just deal with it.

Nope. But considering it takes 45 minutes to count 30 pills, it doesn't surprise me.

No one knows someone else's job better than someone who's never done it.

Btw I expect errors will be on the rise. Cost savings you know.

Well I got my missing pills but this time they gave me the wrong ones completely (from my other rx). So now I have to back again. They are giving me a gift card though (not sure how much).

I have often thought about this when I pick up my 120 percocets, but everytime I feel it would take too long to count them so I trust them...and as Squisher said, don't want to go in saying "hey buddy, I'm short 2 pills".

Yea, I didn't even think to check, which is stupid because I'll look at any pizza I get from Pizza Hut to make sure it's right.

Got 1/2 of a prescription, out of many I oversee for my great aunt, which I didn't even realize til it got near empty. Good thing it wasn't the current flavor of the day for drug abusers, but I still had four hours on the phone of 'who are you' and 'what relation are you to the patient' til I got a new prescription.

Never, but I've only had easy prescriptions, amoxicillin or penicillin or zithromax z pack for ear infection, or strep, or from dentist over the years, and then once an inhaler from when I had bronchitis....

I'm in a love/hate relationship with my pharmacy. The wife takes low dose vidodin for migraines, and I take the same for my knees that need to be replaced.

the pharmacist took it upon herself to deny the Rxs.. saying too much meds were going into the 1 home.

Boy, our doctors were pissed when they heard about that.
