Wow. Those mods cost as much as the case. They look awesome but the idea of buying a case that needs modded to perform well seems kind of odd.

Heck, both of those mods are 2x the cost of the case in the first place. Might as well just buy a better case with airflow.

I have doubts that the replacement piece for the top would offer any improvement for exhaust. It looks like it keeps the side vents and adds new vents with filters directly in front of the fans. I'd bet the path of least resistance is still the side vents unless they are filtered on the original as well. The top filter would also collect the everyday dust that falls onto the PC and would be harder to clean than the solid top. The front mod might help. How much it helps would depend on how restrictive the orignal panel is.

Edit: Looks like the top mod is entirely filtered but I can't tell if the original is.

Ya, it's a lot. Just thinking about it, not all set to do it. This case does not have bad cooling. It's just a little warm, or so I hear.

The mod addresses two elements that prevent better cooling. Hot spots can form at the top due to the narrow vents. Top panel mod takes care of that. The front intake fans are a bit restricted due to the narrow vents. Front panel mod takes care of that.

Reduction of 5+ degrees is what has been seen with just the top panel mod.

But ya, I'm also looking at other cases.

p.s. the side vents on the original top panel are filtered.

If you're that worried about thermals, you should probably get another case instead. There are other good looking cases with good cooling.

I own one, and I wouldn't recommend it for good airflow. There just isn't enough room between the fans and the front panel, and not to mention, there aren't even a lot of gaps for the air to pass through to begin with.

I noticed Jay was using those mods on his cases. He does say the stock case is not good for airflow. Starts at 1:45.

The mATX version I own does need some mods to make it better for airflow. I stopped using it since I stepped down to ITX, but with the front panel off, it made a huge difference with temps on my air cooled CPU and GPU. If you're gonna put a rad in the top, you'll also need to mod it so the heat can be expelled out the top, otherwise, it's just being circulated around and around. It's pretty much a hot box with the front and top panels on.

If you really like the look of the case and are willing to spend the bucks to get, at least, the front panel, then go for it.

If you want a case with proper airflow, look at a Phanteks Pro M or Fractal Meshify C or some other case with the front open for airflow.
