Phantasy Star 4

What an awesome game. It's been years and years since I've played it, and I'm running it off an emulator now; still holds up to the test of time in my opinion. All of my friends when I was 12 and 13 were crazy about it, but I don't run into many people now that played anything but PSO if that : ( Sigh, I wish they kept with the standard jrpg format instead of the diablo esq pseudo mmo they tried to make it T.T

I loved PS4. I remember it being super expensive because it was a 24-megabit cart for back then which was huge. I loved being able to chain together magic spells to create really powerful stuff.

got stuck and gave up on it. sadly, i played through Phantasy Star 3 all the way...3 generations. the amount of random encounters was ridiculous. PS4 reminded me of Exile for some reason.

Yea, they don't give you a lot of free moves before they start checking for encounters again it seems. That just means more xp for me ^.^ What part did you get stuck on? Where to go is usually straight forward and you can always use the talk option to get a reminder.

Purchased it way back when with my hard earned paperboy money. Was worth it as a buddy and I got hours of fun out of it. We were big fans of all the Phantasy Star games and we each would play through it and compare notes.

The game was actually pretty hard when it come out. Most of the named story boss like zios and dark forces are hard without some grinding... It is alsoKIND of hard to made a proper sequel consider the ending of the game unless they made a prequel..... this isn't final fantasy folk....

There was a straight storyline arc, and like 8 side quests along the way. I never was able to figure out the side quests, but I finished the game pretty easily. It was straightforward, if you didn't do the side quests.

I played this on an emulator for the first time in 2003 and it was awesome  Couldn't kill the last boss's final form though but later i came back to it and replayed it then did some powerlevelling in air castle in the room with 4 healing squares and finally managed to take out the last boss 🙂 Good game!

The music are great in this game too consider it is genesis. Alys' death theme is what I call one of the saddest tone in my rpg memory. right next to Lost Odyssey end of disk one theme.
