get ur masters first...then worry about phd program.

Actually, most university programs will award a masters after you complete a thesis, coursework, and comprehensive exams, then you automatically progress to your dissertation to finish your Ph.D. Therefore you are getting admitted to a Ph.D. program, not a masters program, but the masters is given as an intermediary degree so you can be a paid lecturer. Masters-only programs are considered terminal degrees in psych, you don't want to get one unless that's all the academics you ever want. Ph.D. schools do not like to take in candidates who have earned a terminal masters somewhere else.

So anyone know what kind of a GPA one must have to be competitive? I have a 3.45 right now after 60 credit hours, assuming I wouldn't bomb the GRE, would that be competitive?
