PG&E - Can we ignore it?

I am about to move in with an old buddy from high school.

I told him I'll transfer my PG&E account to the new address and he told me that he knows someone that just didn't tell PG&E about his new address and as of today (6 months after he moved in) not a bill or anything from them.

Doesn't PG&E monitor usage? In other words.. can someone really get away with this?

I don't know but I saw a movie about them once.

They'll find out eventually.

And I bet if they do, they'll charge you for all the electricity you've used since the last meter reading on record.

It is possible to "get away" with it, but if they found out, you would be charged for the usage (reading on meter - last known reading on meter).

I work for a power company, and my brother had a similar situation. He ended up owing around $900, which they had him pay in installments.

let me guess, this is in California. Makes you wonder why PG&E is screaming about losing so much money. They can't even bill properly.

They do. They have Meter Readers that come by monthly.
