I am running:
P4 2.4@2.9 1.625v(acutal was 1.6v)160cpu:200 memory fsb
BTW the cpu is nearly 2 yrs old and had been run at 3.0ghz for about yr then would not do with new games so I dropped from 3.0ghz with 1.7v to 2.9ghz at 1.6v
Abit IT7 Max 2 rev2
memory: 1gb(2 x 512)Kingston valuram pc 2700 that booted at 200mhz at 2.6v and ran for several months with no issues
I googled this and got alot different possibilites but one suggested a ram error
My computer was rebooting randomly and when using DVD shrink/clonedvd....
so I ran a memtest86 3.1a and got alot of errors
I went into the bios and changed the cpu to 1.65v(actual 1.625v) and increased the ram to 2.7v and re ran memtest 86 3.1 and got no errors
does this seem right?
do you think the increased cpu voltage or ram voltage was the key....Does a mmeory error in Memtest86 3.1a mean a ram issue ..thus the increased ram voltage was key? or can it show an unstable cpu as a cause of a memory error?
I know I can rerun the tests with different voltage settings but I wonder whether it is worth it?
Also, the Kingston valuram ram are 2x 512 sticks that run pc2700 @2.5v..do you think 2.7v will be an issue
