I don;t see that he is whining. He just reviewed the film and saw that he has areas of improvement, even though he threw for an NFL record 49 TD's last year.

Well, whining might not have been the best word to use, but the point is, peyton is a stat whore/attention whore and will never win the big one because he's so self absorbed 🙂

this Peyton hating is just stupid.

he is a superb qb. can he be outsmarted? perhaps, but he is still and excellent qb.

i'd still take Peyton over Brady given equal salaries. given what brady received last year and what peyton received last year, ok, i'd rather have brady.

but on pure talent alone, i'd take peyton any day.

shoot, name me one person that would take Doug (qb for the redskins when they won the superbowl) over Dan Marino.

superbowl isn't everything.

I suppose if you wanted a choker that's true. Brady steps it up when it's the post season. Manning? His gaudy stats go down the sh1tter when it's playoff time.

hmm, i seem to remember Peyton having a pretty good first round in the playoffs this season.

makes your blanket statement look pretty stupid huh.

Peyton Playoffs 2004

Peyton Manning 75 54 696 72.0 9.3 4 5.3 2 2.7 49 2/12 107.4

doesn't exactly look like a choke to me.

ok, he wasn't great against the Pats, but he was very good against the Broncos.

Yeah, against bad defenses he does well, but put him up against a halfway decent defense and peyton looks stupid... the titans, jets (the colts lost 44-0!), dolphins, and patriots have embarrassed peyton manning in the post season. Who does peyton play well against? The broncos and chiefs. Whoop-dee-doo.

oh so now your story changes. first it's "when it's playoff time", now it's whenever he faces bad defenses.

for your information, ONE of the reasons Defenses he beats up on look so bad is BECAUSE he beat up on them..

those statistics are somewhat misleading.

fact is, he beat those teams. fact is he BEAT DENVER IN THE PLAYOFFS so no matter how you want to twist your words around you were flat out wrong.

not an atypical statement coming from a hater.

Look, against REALLY BAD TEAMS, peyton manning does well. So what? That doesn't prove anything. Against halfway decent teams and better, he chokes. He lost to the jets... THE JETS (OF ALL TEAMS), 44-0! That's beyond humiliating!

doesn't mean anything would you take Peyton and the Pats or Brady and the Colts

i know who I would put my money on

put brady with the colts and they wouldn't be nearly as successful

but put peyton with NE and do I see them winning a superbowl? yep

you don't think that if belichick could straight up trade brady for peyton at the same salary he wouldn't?

he would be a fool not to

Except that brady has PROVEN he can play well against good defenses in the postseason. Manning has proven that he can only play well against really weak defenses in the postseason.

is it me or has someone forgotten this is FOOTBALL we are talking about. it's NOT GOLF, it's NOT BASKETBALL, it is the ULTIMATE TEAM SPORT.

to single out one person and leave out the context of the team behind him is LUDICROUS.

shoot, i bet you are the kind of hater who will go all hypocritical and argue that Emmitt Smiths success is ENTIRELY DUE to his OFFENSIVE line.

on the one hand, Peytons losses are ALL peytons fault and Emmits Success is ALL due to his TEAM.

quit being a hater.

A lot of people seem to forget that it's a team game, it's not a QB versus another QB. Payton is a great QB, but the pats simply have a way of getting into his head. So what, he's still a great QB, and I'd be more than thrilled to have him on my team. He'll win a superbowl at some point.

I heard the same whining about "choker in the big game" about Elway for years, until all of a sudden he had TD in the backfield and the Bronco's won a couple of superbowls. Did Elway become a stud all of a sudden? No, he was always a stud, he just didn't have the team around him to win the big one.

From what I remember, Dan Marino didn't have a quality back either. Peyton, OTOH, has James at least. The Colts weakness is its defense. They're a good team, but it's unfair to say they choked against the Pats. The Pats are an extremely well coached and well balanced team. It's very hard for any team to beat them. We'll see if anything changes this year with the coaches they lost.

IMHO, Brady and Manning are this generations Montana and Marino. All 4 are great, but they succeed on different levels.

Swap marino for Montana and who has more success?

could Walsh have worked his Genius with Marino at the helm?

shoot put montana in any system other than Walsh's West Coast Offense and he is a footnote at best.

Why would he be a fool? Think about it. What would be the point of trading Manning for Brady straight up? To improve your team? Last time I checked the Patriots are already the best team 3 out of the last 4 years. Why ruin that chemistry?

Who's to say Manning would be able to run the Patriot's offense better than Brady? Brady obviously runs it pretty well considering he has those 3 rings.

There are a lot of factors to consider. Those are just a couple.
