I've donated time and money to animal shelters (remember, I worked in the field), and I know how good it feels to make a difference in just one animals life.

I'm not about to criticize pet.com's gesture.

I learned a long time ago that I can't save every stray (animal or human!) no matter how hard I try.

The point is, just to make some sort of effort to help out once in a while.

:)

Like it or not, the sled dogs are more important that dogs in pounds. First place, the dogs in the pound are cared for until their death. The real issue is that people depend on the sled dogs. Just like we depend on cars, they depend on their dogs.

This is more about helping people than helping animals.

I did enjoy the part about them kind of swindling their stock holders. But what's more important? Remaining liquid for a little while longer or helping a bunch of people and their animals?

That was a nice gesture, they certainly 'donated' enough pet supplies to the various hot deals forums throughout the 'net when they were still in business.
