(Even if you dont know the game EA are tring to phase out LAN, we cant let them do this...)

I don't think it would take a lot for them to continue support for LAN, unless they to do a subscriber only (i.e. get more money from you to allow you to play against friends). From the company's point of view, they're probably considering if the amount of money lost by customers not buying their software (because of lack of LAN support) is less than the amount of money they'll from a subscriber only type of service.
