Petition to Unlock Cellphones

Unless something is done, unlocking a phone could bring serious grief in 2014.

I thought this wasn't an issue as long as your phone has the necessary bands to work on the other network? FYI aren't the new iPhones virtually the same across Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile?

The petition is already done. The petition we did was the reason the administration is now taking action.

Yes it is. However the AT&T and TMobile versions will be SIM locked to their networks. We want them to all be SIM unlocked out of the box.

for future Verizon devices that work on 700mhz, they should be unlocked thanks to FCC (and somewhat Google)

That article is totally wrong in its assumptions... none of Verizon's LTE phones have been SIM locked in the first place.

Well, think DROID 4 has lte, but is only internationally unlocked(doesn't work with att)
