Recently on FOX News former Senator Chris Dodd said (as quoted on news site TechDirt), "Those who count on quote 'Hollywood' for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who's going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don't ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don't pay any attention to me when my job is at stake," This is an open admission of bribery and a threat designed to provoke a specific policy goal. This is a brazen flouting of the "above the law" status people of Dodd's position and wealth enjoy.

We demand justice. Investigate this blatant bribery and indict every person, especially government officials and lawmakers, who is involved.

Does this petition thing from the government actually work? Or is it just to make us think that they care? Anyhoo investigating one of their former senators would be a good place to start, he shouldn't of opened his mouth like that.

It's vile, but this is how the US government operates today. It is legal because it's lobbying. it is immoral because it is vote buying.

Was gonna post this. And signed. I hope they investigate him, even if it's just a cursory review that leads to nothing. Why? Because the next time he's up for re-election this shit is going to get re-aired.

He won't be running for re-election, as he isn't in office anymore.

Regardless, Dodd has been ethically questionable and heavily influenced by money for a long time now. I hope he has to pay the consequences for it.

I think this kind of thing is morally equivalent to bribery (legally is a different matter). But given how the government operates at the moment, I'm not sure singling out Chris Dodd makes a lot of sense. This case doesn't seem like a particularly bad example of what's wrong with the relationship between private industry and government.

Of course it doesn't, because Dodd was a Democrat and the copyright cartel supports Democrats. I'm sure if it was a Republican representing the oil companies you'd be singing a different tune.

Rainsford isn't one of those flaming Democratic shills.
I largely consider him to be a centrist.

Give it a rest.

Signed and I'm not even a U.S resident.

Not sure whether we will see anything out of this but it's still better than doing nothing.

Well, Dodd was really an idiot to say that on TV. We all know that's how politicians work, but they don't go right out on TV and proclaim that.

Just like the gas investigations. Absolutely nothing.

This. Unfortunately the kind of behavior Dodd is accused of is business in usual in Washington, especially because money == speech now.
