Boehner is Speaker of the House.
Boehner supported fiscal cliff bill from Senate.
Cantor is Majority Leader.
Cantor supported Sandy Relief.
Cantor embarrasses Boehner by opposing fiscal cliff deal and takes over 150 Republican votes with him.
Boehner yanks Sandy Relief bill from the floor.

Truly truly disgusting on the part of the Speaker. Delaying aid to homeless victims of Sandy and delaying the economic rebuilding of New Jersey and New York to spite another member.

Why should New York and New Jersey be getting that much? People should buy insurance and shouldn't expect someone else to bail them out for their mistakes.

As well many of the people who had homes damaged on the Jersey Shore were rich since that is expensive property, shouldn't they pay for the damage? This sounds like welfare for the rich which I thought most people would be against.

Also the Sandy relief bill was loaded up with PORK BARREL SPENDING

New York and New Jersey are getting what they assessed as the damage. The same as any other states. If you think that New York and New Jersey deserve less because they are wealthy states, well, I suppose that's quite liberal of you. Truth is that New York and New Jersey pay into the government far much more than they get back.

Having a massive hurricane destroy billions of dollars of property wasn't someone's mistake. No more so than it was someone's mistake to have their house destroyed by an earthquake, wild fire, tornado or a hurricane in a Red State like Alabama. If you really think that helping out people living by the coast in New Jersey is 'welfare for the rich' you either have never been to New Jersey or are simply un-patriotic and un-American. New Yorkers were good enough Americans to get hit by Al Queada on 9/11 but apparently not good enough to get aid after a massive hurricane.

Oh, and if you think the bill was bloated with pork you're just repeating an unverifiable Republican talking point. This is more about sticking it to Blue States and inter-House GOP infighting than pork. That's just what they tell the uneducated public to keep them sleeping soundly at night.

Well the Republicans did raise taxes on the more affluent Americans so maybe this is a turning point. :)

Staten Island is a middle class blue collar community. No sympathy for them? Sandy was an anomoly for that area
