83? That's not too bad. I remember him in shows going back into the early 60's.
He was a strange character...or always played them anyway...

"If your mind is at work, we're in danger of reproducing another cliche. If we can keep our minds out of it and our thoughts out of it, maybe we'll come up with something original."

I was traveling with a friend and we happened to be in a seat behind Peter Falk. My friend started doing an imitation of Peter Falk. Pretty soon the guy in the next row over started talking to my friend doing his imitation of Peter Falk. The stewardess when she served drinks did her imitation of Peter Falk. Pretty soon everyone was doing Peter Falk. It was really funny. Peter Falk was near tears in joy. He signed autographs most the way to LA and was friendly and funny.

I just put my RIP with great respect to Peter Fawk. I know its unfair to the Peter Fawk as a great actor with a long multi-dimensional acting career, but the way he played Columbo was pure genius. But I will always remember Peter Fawk as only Columbo. Maybe with luck, I will be exposed to some of his earlier work.

Some people only improve the world with their death, Peter Fawk enriched my world with his life. Now my thoughts are with his family.

Just heard it on WABC TV news. Only 83 years old and they said he had some sort dementia issues.
A good actor, he will be missed. Rest In Peace.

I was never a huge Columbo fan or Peter Falk fan in general, but he rocked the Granddad role in 'The Princess Bride'.
