I think he was under gun by the Iraqi's and he needed to get out of Baghdad before the Coalition swoops in on the city any way. It should come out later that this was his only way out alive.

I think you are letting this guy off the hook too easy. This asshat has a long history of saying stuff like this.

He has given comfort ot the enemy and should be tried for sedition.
