Addressing the questions of bias that have plagued the media organization, Buttigieg called out two hosts in particular. “I get where that’s coming from, especially when you see what goes on with some opinion hosts on this network,” he said. “I mean, when you’ve got Tucker Carlson saying that immigrants make America dirty. When you’ve got Laura Ingraham comparing detention centers with children in cages to summer camps.

“There is a reason why anybody has to swallow hard and think twice before participating in this media ecosystem,” he added.

Buttigieg defended his decision to appear on Fox News by arguing that while some of the network’s hosts weren’t operating in “good faith,” many of the viewers were watching in good faith and deserved to hear the Democratic agenda.

Feels pretty much like when Bernie went to a town hall that Fox News was hosting at, and the audience ended up siding with him than with Fox News. Still hilarious, either way.

Watched it on youtube this afternoon, Pete sailed past Wallace's gotcha questions with ease and grace. He thinks fast on his feet. Wallace seemed truly surprised by the standing ovation.

I posted about this in the "Warren refuses to go on Fox" thread, as an example of why I thought that position was a mistake. They can't be afraid to take it to the right/Trump, even on their turf.

Trump is still flipping out about it. He was at a rally yesterday and was complaining about it, even got the crowd to boo Fox.

Lol
Pete and other Ds are totally in his head.

Actually, I concur with the opinion that Pete did what is best for Pete, just as Warren and Harris did what is best for them. As it is Fox still used the event to attack him afterward, you're just seeing the truth of it. Fox viewers will be told what to believe about him, he didn't win any of them over.

Still, it pissed Orangemandias off and that was worth something. How dare his network be flirting with the enemy and not polishing his tiny balls!

I'm not real fond all of Pete's ideas, but he does seem to have more on the ball than the other 23 Democrat Candidates combined.

I see your point but I'm not sure I agree with it. Hilary didn't shy away from taking Turmp and Republicans head on and yet look how that worked out. And she wasn't the only one. Hell she's still denigrated for being "soulless" because of it.

What she should do is decline Fox News' offer and then contact the area the town hall is supposed to happen at and ask if they'd find an independent organization to put one on and she'd be there.

That's not to say its wrong to do that, I don't know, and Buttigieg seems to be showing its possible and might work out. I really wonder though if Warren would get the same treatment, I get a strong feeling she'd get the Hilary treatment if she were to do the same.

That doesn't take much though and it seems like there might be lots of people, or at least voices, in Turmp's head.

Hillary's problem was that she was a crappy politician. She was a capable and informed technocrat, but terrible at connecting and breaking away from the baggage.

I'll leave this here. It's a good day when you go on Fox and have the hosts bashing Trump at the end.

Hey Brit,

Did you bother to consider there is a reason Trump thinks Fox News belongs to him??

IMO, A ballsy Dem should go on a towh hall hosted by Hannity and call him out on all his past bullshit to his face. Like, "why did you along with Trump promote birtherism for years"??

This shows the tension inside Fox people have talked about between the journalists and the talking opinion heads. Hannity et al have gone after Shep, Chris Wallace, and anyone else who refuses to tow their messianic view of Trump.

This is exactly what I was saying with the Elizabeth Warren thread. There are TONS... absolute TONS of potential voters for democrats to grab.

As I suspected - Pete is the smart one and (hopefully) the one I vote for in 2020.

Unsurprisingly, Warren is incredibly dumb as a box of rocks.

Wallace was a decent moderator. I saw half of the town hall so far and everything he asked was certainly fair game.

I wonder how many times Faux will rerun this town hall. I suspect it will disappear, never to be mentioned by any of their commentators again as well.

BTW, Brit Hume is wrong-Faux is NOT a news channel.

Someone's pretty upset that Pet appeared in a town hall on "his" network...

Hard to believe that @FoxNews is wasting airtime on Mayor Pete, as Chris Wallace likes to call him. Fox is moving more and more to the losing (wrong) side in covering the Dems. They got dumped from the Democrats boring debates, and they just want in. They forgot the people who got them there. Chris Wallace said, “I actually think, whether you like his opinions or not, that Mayor Pete has a lot of substance…fascinating biography.” Gee, he never speaks well of me – I like Mike Wallace better…and Alfred E. Newman will never be President!

That last part is a bit perplexing, as I thought Alfred E. Neumann was currently president?

But since Alfred E. Neumann leads each issue of MAD with a pithy quotation, that is correctly-spelled and grammatically-correct, and shows current affairs to be the clusterflop that they are, and is in print forever, instead of an easily-deletable tweet; I think it is safe to say that Trump is several steps below Mr. Neumann.

Standing Ovations are much easier to give than votes. There was a lot of the I hate Trump but I am also voting for him vote last time around.

As has been said, Buttigieg made the right choice for himself. He can handle himself in any forum. I predict he's going to clean-up in the dem debates. I still think that Biden is going to get the nom, but Pete will be his main contender down the road.

No, Hillary's problem was that the well was already poisoned, so more than half of America had no interest in anything she said long before she ever said it. Each and every candidate is already getting the same treatment as we speak. Take post #5. He has never seen most of these people speak but is already convinced they are all worse than Pete.

Interesting. Is it Trump's turn to face the poisoned well?

Trump is immune to poison, pretty much like all GOP politicians, because conservatives do not care about rules except when they apply to liberals.

I... sadly... agree =/

Hoping that Biden falls personally.
