okey ive tried searching petcock drain systems on watercooling loops, but to no luck, all i find is those for cars. These drain systems are much too big for a computer watercooling loop and hence im wondering if anyone here knows how to set one up for a loop.

One of my NV-78 lucite top had a micro crack on the inside and it just got bigger. I already contacted DD and they offered to mail me a new one asap. So now i have to drain my entire system. pull that block off, which is a pain because there linked in SLI, and reinstall the loop later when i new block arrives. Nothing leaked, nor would i really be concerned if it did leak, because im using promochill which is non-conductive.

Since im going to be tweeking my water loop now, Last chance til i do my coolant flush 6 months from now again. So if anyone knows the basis of what a petcock drain is, can you please forward me in the right direction to set one up in my rig. My components are as follows in loop order

res -> D5 -> D5 -> NV-78 -> NV-78 -> Storm -> Rad -> Res

All my tubes are 7/16, and i might think about dropping the new DD chipset block in my loop as well.

Anyhow thank you for your time :]

thanks a lot hard warrior. Also im assuming i would use a T-Line with that quick fitting right after my second pump so the pump pulls all the fluid out of the system?

My pleasure, as usual. Yeah, a QD valve will work in work in both cases. I use two sets of valves to make draining a snap.

this is ultimately what you want

1/4" petcock drain to 1/2" PushOn barb

I made it myself. I don't know where you can get them as I get them from my work. pm me if you want one.

here's a set I built for member 'smut' here.

http://users.rcn.com/nanikeala/ebay%20pics/barbs%20004.jpg

he put it in his 3/8" Swiftech loop. It has 3/8" compression to 1/2" PushOn barb. He upgraded to a BIP3 and needed an adapter. I put a petcock drain in one of the adapters. As you can see it's at an angle so it clears his pc...the 3/8" side goes thru the pci slot cover.

Looks great. So im just assuming you attach the push on barb, and when you have the pump on it drains the loop correct?

It looks more like you have to install a Y, fit the open leg over the bulkhead fitting and then open your T or res fillpot. You shouldn't need your pump on as gravity will do most of the work.

yep, exactly. sooo convenient. I hook up 1/4" tubing to the petcock and put the other end in a bucket. I remove my res plug and let gravity do it's work...drains right out.

PushOn barbs are a brand/style of barb. go to page 244

the barbs are oversize to work with PushOn air hose...good to over 320psi when used with said hose. I get most of them at my work.
