Pet wake-up calls

Sometimes (hell about every morning) my cat trys to assist in the process of waking me up. She hates my alarm clock, so if I'm slow to resond to it, I get a few reminders.

Her method:

Smacking me in the head a few times with her paw (usually the opening gambit, if this fails she trys more foreful tactics)

Stand on my chest (if im lying on my back)

Head-butting my nose

Licking my face (this one is especially effective as it gets painful really fast. Rough cat tongue on forehead = ouch!)

If these fail and the alarm is still going off (yeah, i sleep like the dead) she will go sit next to the alarm and yowl along with it, I guess figuring that it needs some direct help in its job.

On the rare occasion that all of this fails and im still sleeping through the alarm, she gives up and goes and sits in the bathtub to try and hide from the noise.

So, what does your pet do to give you a kick in the ass to get moving in the morning?

We have so many cats that we sleep like contortionists.

Wake up time is having one of them claw at us, another jump on us, another lick on us and at least one nibbling.

🙂

Our youngest cat (1 year) thinks I'm his mother. Seriously.

Ever since we had him he'll nuzzle me (like he's looking for a nipple).

We got him very young (he could fit in the palm of my hand) so I'm sure that's why, he wasn't weaned properly.

Anyway, when he wakes me up this is usually how.

mine do the same as yours,

bat me with their paws
lick my nose - i hate this it fusking hurts
sit on my face
step on my hair
claw me

There's nothing worse than having them attempt to sit on your face, I can wake up fast from that.

We have an alarm-cat. She just goes off at about 6:00 every morning and doesn't shut up until you either feed her or throw her outside😉

One of our dogs responds to my brother's alarm by jumping on his bed and trying to wrestle with him. It's pretty funny actually, and he doesn't stay in bed too long (my brother that is!)

Yeah, cat ass in your face 1st thing in the morning is not a joy. Nor for that matter is cat rectum really a delightful sight at any other time but just when you're waking up is especially bad.

Well, I close my door at night to avoid just such occurences, but my kitty isn't too deterred.

You wouldn't think a cat meowing would do much to wake you up... but when she does it for about an hour non-stop...

i tried shutting the door, but the cats pull at the rug and tear it apart, as well as scratch the door

are cat's tounges really rough that it hurts when they lick you?

if they lick you on the arm - No not really

but when they lick the underside of your nose or you eyelids, it really hurts

i never knew cat's tounges were so rough.

my cat rubs his canine over my nose "hurts and stinky first time in the morning cat breath"
and if you think about it a cats tounge is its means of grooming so they act like a wet brush to clean and strieghten the fur

*sigh* Now I miss my cat. I always miss my cat.

She would often wake up me up by sitting on my chest, occasionally she'd lick my face. Ouch!

On a side note, once many years ago Brutus tried to wake me up in the middle of the night. I was VERY tired and blew him off. Something told me to open my eyes. Brutus was like 6 inches from my HEAD in the "Squat" position.

I HAVE NEVER COME SO WIDE AWAKE SO QUICKLY IN MY LIFE!

I yelled "NO!!!!" and quickly took him outside where he took a really nasty runny dump (He obviously ate something that didn't agree with him...)

That night I learned a valuable lesson. No matter how late it is, or how tired you are, if your DOG wants out, LET HIM OUT!!!

 good dog!!

back when I lived at home, my dog wouldn't wake up until my parents woke up. she knew the cycle, though. she'd get restless around 4 am, and by 5 am she's in the kitchen waiting patiently for my mom to let her outside.
