Pet Rat is acting like a total tard!

Anyway, the Rat resides on a shelf above the computer desk. I am coming in from the kitchen, he sees me and darts from the far corner of his cage, around to the front, then zags to the back, about halfway across the cage, runs forward and throws himself up against the front of the cage, facing me, holding on with all fours.
He then gets down and spends the next 10 minutes pushing and shoveling all of his litter into the far corner, then he runs to the opposite end and runs and leaps into the litter, like a kid would do with autumn leaves. I'm thinking ok, you're weird. Well we aren't done yet. I'm on the computer and this little tool is throwing sh!t at me. I look up and he's pitching sunflower seeds and other crap at me thru the bars. Some of it hit me. What's wrong with this brat? :Q

mdchesne said ANY females. species irrelavent. rats act weird when they smell a female in heat and a male comes near. mdchesne recommends to take the appropriate action to show your rat who's the alpha male 😉

Yes, he want's to play. I have him out now and he's sitting on my shoulder making these weird chirpy squeaky noises and nuzzling into my neck, etc. Fun little guy, actually. They can be affectionate. 🙂
Unfortunately, I don't have a digital cam handy, or I'd love to post some pic.

I'm gonna have to get a rat one of these days.

i bet you'd start throwing dingleberries, too, if we kept you in a little caged box above our monitors. 😀

Relative to size, that little caged box is probably bigger than my dorm room. 🙁

Actually, for someone who cannot have a dog or cat, they are pretty good. Low maintenance too. You do need to change their litter once or twice a week, but are a pet that you can leave for a few days too, as long as they have plenty of water and food.
They do need attention. The best rats are ones who get to play with you for an hour or so a day. They need interaction, or else they get bored, depressed, etc.

small rodents often get problems with their inner ears that sort out their balance. They feel like everything is messed up like the world is turning upside down, and try to fix it. You must have seen examples of hamsters doing front flips in "America's funniest animals" and the like; this is a perfect example of it.

Your rat is screwed and needs to be put down. Sorry.

Wow! Thanks for the Doom & Gloom! He's fine. He was just feeling playful. He's being completely normal now. He just ate, drank and is curled up in his corner. I know him and we've been thru this before. It's been part of his antics for the last 2 years. 🙂

ROTFLMAO !!!!!

He was happy to see you! You got him all excited. 😉 I use to have a guinnea pig, that would squeak, run around his cage when I would walk in my room.
