For the past couple of months I've had zero energy and felt incredibly lethargic. At first I thought it was b/c I wasn't exercising as much, but I was still eating healthy so it shouldn't have been that drastic a change. Then I realized that I didn't feel as rested in the morning because my g/f feels the need to have her 75lb dog sleep in the same bed as us. I'm slightly allergic to his fur, and in the middle of the night he would sometimes be laying against my leg (he's supposed to stay on her side of the bed) or feet and I'll wake up itching and have to kick him to the other side of the bed. In addition, he'll sometimes be shaking and making noises in his dreams that'll wake me as well.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the dog, he's my boy but I'm going to suggest she only come over 3 nights a week now (she was over for 5 before). I'm having trouble functioning at work because it's built up over a few months now.

Pet owners, do you get as good sleep with your pet in the bed? Just read that a Mayo Sleep Disorder Clinic said a good majority of his patients were due to pets in the bed. I'm thinking it's not such a great idea, especially for larger pets like large dog breeds.

I sleep better with my kitten sleeping against my legs or feet warming up an area of the bed :)

My cats sleep with me. The girl sleeps on top of me, and the tom is somewhere else on the bed. I'll get uncomfortable every so often, and change position, but I never have trouble getting back to sleep.

My small dog sleeps at the foot of my bed, but she doesn't stay there all night. She gets up and into her own bed at some point.
I don't feel like it interferes with my sleep at all.

Two dogs(bulldogs) are crated at night. Cats try to sleep on the bed and my wife allows it but when they get on my side of the bed, they get tossed.

dog (American Bulldog) sleeps downstairs in her own bed. We never let her in the bed, but we used to allow her to sleep in the room with us. Unfortunately, she believes that breakfast time starts at 4am, so from then until we would give in and wake up, she would parade by both sides of the bed, shake her collar, sneeze, whine, etc.

my dog moves throughout the night, she will sleep on our bed between my legs, or at the end, next to me, on the floor, in her kennel..she is not picky, but she loves the bed that's for sure.

sometimes she will push us at night, haha it's cute, but annoying -- husky's have some weird habits!

We have a small dog that likes to drape itself across my legs. Most nights it doesn't bother me as I hardly move in my sleep. Once in a while she'll get litely kicked when I turn over and forget shes there but it doesn't seem to bother her as she is always across my legs within 10 seconds of me getting into bed

My golden retriever sleeps on our bed, but we have an extra big king size bed (California? I forget what it's called) and she's a small golden (~60 pounds).

We crated her at night for the longest time, but all of a sudden one night she jumped on the bed and just seemed too pleased with herself for me to kick her off. So, as the story goes, she stayed.

No, I wouldn't recommend it.

We have a king ... 2 dogs ...

9lb and 25lb ...

the 25lb'er is only a pain when she turns and gets her paws on me. Normally she sleeps under the covers at the foot of the bed.

The 9lb'er sleeps between us and moves around ... though he's starting to hunker down more in one place for the night. He just gets shoved around when we move in the middle of the night.

It would probably get in the way if they were 35lbs & up ...

sounds like you better just break up with the chick rather than taking this war to the internet.

All pets/people are different, but if you are fucking allergic what do you expect?

Pretty wierd though that you had her over 5 days out of the week and she brought her pet.

People date wierdly now...they act like they are married.

My cats occasionally sleep in our bed. They used to all the time until about 1 year old.

One is a PITA when he comes to bed as he wants attention and will nibble at your fingers / ears / hair / nose. The other two just plop down at the foot or head of the bed and are quiet.

Not with me, no. But when I leave for work it seems the dog and both cats feel the need to sleep in our bed with my wife. I won't let them up there when I'm in bed but they get in as soon as I leave.

No my dogs too big, plus my gf doesn't let him when she spends the weekends, so I figure it's better not to let him at all.
I use to let him sleep on the foot of the bed once in awhile, but he would always end up on your legs and 120lbs on the legs gets uncomfortable after awhile.

Dog sleeps in the bed and snores. The cat usually comes on the bed at night and sleeps on my chest. Gotten so used to it I don't know what to do anymore.

Dog and cat both sleep on the bed. The dog snores and the cat farts in her sleep.

I love critters.

Three 70+lb dogs but only one sleeps in the bed. Every now and again he will wake me up getting in or out of bed but for the most part I sleep better when he is in the bed. His extra weight on the bed makes my side more comfortable.

do you wake up in the middle of night with dry mouth? do you snore? ask your gf

you should go to a sleep lab and check for sleep apnea if the answer is yet.

I lock my cat out when I sleep. She tends to move around during the night and it disturbs me sometimes. Or even if she isn't moving around, I'll just get annoyed that she's crowding me and toss her on the floor.
