My g/f was telling me about Perverted Justice and their website a while back and I happened upon this video a few minutes ago:

They can't do anything about their desires, but they can do something about acting on those desires. We all have things we want to do and can't... I don't feel sorry for the molestors at all.

Actually it has been pretty much proven that they CAN'T. I don't feel sorry for them either, but they have the highest rate of recidivism because they cannot stop. There is no other solution but to lock them up forever. Perhaps someday there will be a solution, but right now there isn't.

The only things you can't stop in your life are involuntary bodily responses. You can't keep yourself from sucking in air after 5 minutes in a gas chamber, but you can keep your dick in your pants around little kids. Or you can not go around little kids. Or you can castrate yourself. Where there's a desire, there's a way to stop that desire.

I don't quite understand the video. Was he bringing his son to watch the other kid molest him? Was he going to molest his son while the other kid was pleasuring him? Was he just going to molest the other kid?

It's been proven that they WON'T. Those studies were done on a cross section of people that both have the this sexual deviancy, and will not reign in their desire to act on them. And those people overwhelmingly will continue to act on them.

However there is another group of people that have the desires and don't act on them because they know it's wrong. Those people were not included in the study, because they were never arrested in the first place, and will not be because they control themselves. No one is compelled to act on sexual urges, no matter what those urges are.

There's nothing about being attracted to kids that also makes you unable to see that it's wrong and reign in your desires to act on the attraction. What is true is that they will never stop being attracted to kids, just like homosexuals will always be attracted to the same sex, and heterosexuals attracted to the opposite sex. But every one of these groups can choose not to have sex if they desired.

When Dateline said 'we wont pursue this', he meant pursuing the interview... Dateline's goal was to interview every person that comes through the door...

Of course, most of them just turns around and leave, then get busted by the cops outside

I saw the show on TV last week. What happened was the police in that town had been wrestling with how to complaints from parents whose kids were getting into the online conversations.

The cops contacted dateline and perverted justice for tips on how to set up these "stings". The police chief said not only did PV agree to help with advise, but also to come down there and actually participate.

That statement is fundamentally incorrect. Those that have the greatest degree of this impulse control disorder cross the line and can't/won't stop, regardless of the consequences. If you shock a mouse evertime it consumes cocaine, and it never stops, choosing death by electrocution over abstinence, then as a descriptive FACT, the mouse cannot control it's own impulse.

There is no real debate about this within the mental health care field. Sexual predators cannot stop, cannot be reformed, and must be jailed for life.
